BRONZE PINFIRE GUNS Over the last 15 years I have collected and studied Bronze Pinfire Guns. They ranged from the large 12MM revolvers to as small as 5MM revolvers. Most of the Bronze Pinfire Guns were 7MM revolvers and 7MM pepperboxes . The pepperbox shown below is one of the pieces from the collection. 7MM BRONZE PINFIRE PEPPERBOX

7 MM Bronze Pinfire Pepperbox has very nice scroll engraving on the frame and cylinder. This gun has a rare bronze hammer. Only a few of the Bronze Pinfire Guns have bronze hammers and most of the time they are broken or missing (see 12MM Bronze Pinfire Revolver). The 1.9-inch long fluted cylinder has 6 barrels. Grips has high quality checkering and are in near mint condition. Ejector rod is screwed in the butt of the pistol. The hammer does not go back when the trigger is pulled. This is probably caused by internal damage to the fragile bronze hammer. I have never taking the gun apart to fix the problem. The hammer not working may be the reason that this pepperbox is in near mint condition (could not be used). MARKINGS: Liege Belgian Proof mark and inspector's mark, crown over the letter N, are located on the back side of the cylinder. With this type of inspector mark, the gun was made before 1877. The letters JS are stamped on the front side of the cylinder.
