Keichousaurus
Keichousaurus was an early reptile that lived during the Triassic Period (roughly 245 - 208 million years ago). Chengzhi Hu collected the first Triassic marine reptile specimen in 1956 at a site in Xingyi, Guizhou China. The animals were small with a long neck and tail, five-toed feet with long digits, and a pointed head with sharp teeth. They may have lived in the water though they had sturdy legs and probably could walk on land. Fossils have been found in Guizhou Province, China, and are popular with collectors, principally because complete articulated skeletons are relatively common from this area, and frequently advertised for sale. The usual species encountered for sale is Keichousaurus hui, which are approximately 6 to 12 inches long (Keichousaurus yuananensis is approximately twice the length). To date, altogether there have been 3 orders, 5 families, 11 genera, and 13 species identified and established.
