British Military contract Light Dragoon flintlock pistol by KETLAND & Co., circa 1780. The 9-inch long, .65 caliber (carbine bore) round steel barrel has three partially visible Tower proofs at the breech: Brass regulation furniture; Lock marked with a "CROWN" over GR (King George III) and KETLAND & Co.. The stock is missing some chips out from around the pins and the under side of the fore-end has been restored at some point with the replacement of an American style entry ram-rod pipe. The pistol is in un-cleaned "out-of-the-attic" condition. The brass has a pleasing olive color. The steel parts have a thick brown/black rust age patina. The pistol overall length is 15.5 inches and is in good working order. This is a good Light Dragoon flint pistol that may have seen service during the American Revolutionary War.
