Eodiaphyodus granulosus
Late Cretaceous Period: 65 to 96 million years old
This large bony fish had this array of crushing teeth palate toward the back of its throat. It was used for both killing and to help digestion by crushing the bones and shells of its prey prior to swallowing. Eodiaphyodus is member of the suborder Albuloidea. Some of the other large bony and tarpon like fishes that possessed the mouth crusher plate feature were Egertonia, Phyllocus, Paralbula and Pseudoegertonia.
