Frequently Asked Maximilian Suit of Armour you have for sale is a Victorian replica. What about a real suits? The suit is a Victorian copy made probably around 1880 to 1920. Real German Maximilian Suit of armour made in the early 1500’s cost $150,000 to over $300,000 (if they come up for sale). A 100% original suit of armour is very very rare. Most of the time some parts are replaced with new or Victorian parts to complete the suit or the suit is put together with pieces from other suits, not always from the same time period or from the same country. These are call composite suits of armour and range in price starting around $25,000 and up. A real helmet is most of the time 50% of the value of the suit. Great care is needed when buying a real suit, making sure the helmet is not a Victorian copy or a newly made helmet aged to look old. Also some not so honest dealers will try to sell a “real” suit of are saying that it is a composite suit with some replacement parts but do not tell you that 90% of the suit is modern or Victorian parts. They are not worth the money they are asking. Sometime they will sell a Victorian suit of armour as a real suit of the 16th – 17th century, again, not worth the money they are asking. There are a lot of junk suits out there. I used Naval Jelly on a sword blade to remove rust but now there is a gray "haze" on the blade. How do I remove this gray haze that has adhered to the blade? Naval Jelly has acid in it and your grey "haze" is not something adhered to your blade. You have etched the polished surface of the blade. Use FLITZ, a metal polish, fiberglass and paint restorer. It is slow and takes a lot of handwork but it will work to bring back the polish look without scratching it. I do not know of any stores that sell it retail but I purchase it at some of the larger gun shows. Can we email our charge card number to pay for item? NO -email is unsecure. For more information, see this page for ordering information: PAYMENT METHODS ACCEPTED Is a sword made by M C Lilly with a man's name on the blade RARE? NO - The Lilly sword company made hundreds of thousands of Society Swords each having the original owner's name on the blade. Why does some common society swords that you say in valued at $50 to $150 bring $600 on Ebay. It rarely happens. I did see one style of sword sell for $650 that I would get only $75. It could be the name on the blade is the same as an old relative and if two people think it is their family sword, they bid it way over the value. Also some people buying on ebay do not shop around for the best brice and get into a bid war over an item. One not so honest appraiser told a buyer that a sword is valued at over $2000 and it sold to him for $600 on Ebay. This buyer was very unhappy with us when we would not buy it off of him for $1000 (half the fake appraiser value). We had identical sword in better condition for sale in our shop at $120.
