Ron Ruble has had a life long interest in antique weapons, fossils and art. The first antique gun book or magazine was FAMOUS GUNS from the HAROLDS CLUB COLLECTION by Hank Bowman purchased in 1962 for 75 cents. In the same year obtained his first antique firearm, a shotgun converted from a Civil War rifle as a Christmas present from his father and both items are still in his personal collection. Over the years he purchased, traded and sold (when needing money) many different antique firearms but it was not until mid 1980's did he find a specialized area of collecting. Interest turned to Pinfire guns and one revolver was found that was made completely of bronze (barrel, cylinder and frame). The authors of THE PINFIRE SYSTEM, Gene Smith and Chris Curtis, said that they had only seen only a few Bonze Pinfire guns in over 18 years of collecting but this did not stop Ron Ruble from a 15 year quest on finding and collecting Bronze Pinfire Guns. The worlds largest collection of more than 30 of these rare Bronze Pinfire Guns were collected ranging from the only known 5mm-bronze revolver to a Civil War 12mm brass pinfire. In 1990, Ron Ruble was laid off from his aerospace engineering job along with 20,000 other engineers in the San Diego area. Unable to find any work, Ron Ruble Enterprises was formed and started selling antique guns, swords and his original pen & ink drawings of historical buildings in a downtown San Diego antique mall. Three months later went back to work as an engineer but keep the successful antique business going on a part-time basis in downtown San Diego Gaslamp district. Over the next 11 years the small antique business grew from selling a few antique guns and swords to one that specializes in rare and unusual items. In mid 2001 a decision was made to leave the California rat race, high cost housing ($400,000 for small house in San Diego) and quit the extremely high stress job as an aerospace-manufacturing engineer at GKN Aerospace Chem-tronics Inc for a better life. The small Town of Miami Arizona, an old copper mining boomtown 75 miles east of Phoenix tuned into the golden opportunity for a change in life style. On November 9th, 2001 Ron Ruble opened his shop in the historical Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph Building (built 1928) in downtown Miami Arizona. After five years of having a retail store in downtown historic Miami AZ, we have now relocated to east Tennessee. Our new location in Tennessee will allow us to attend more Antique Shows, Gun Shows and Militia Shows. In the past, each time we attended a show our shop would be closed until we returned which resulted in our shop being closed more than 50% of the time. For this reason we decided to move our store into an antique mall. Our new location is the Olden Days Antiques few miles south of Interstate 40 on Hwy 66 going toward Sevierville and Pigeon Forge Tennessee. We also sell fossils in the gift shop at the THE DINOSOUR WALK MUSEUM on US 441 (the main parkway to Gatlinburg) near stop light #1, just a few miles north of Dollywood and eight miles north of Gatlinburg TN. Today Ron Ruble Enterprises is one of only a few businesses in the country (or the world) that has real armour from the 16th and 17th century for sale, antique swords, Gatling Guns, cannons, fine art, fossils and many unusual rare antiques. Most of these items are shown on our website.
